Jakk is Back.

The second comic of Jakk is finally arriving this Saturday. The characters… well… they look a bit different from the pilot comic. Here are some character reference pictures to show my point. Sorry for the low quality, but it’s the best I could do in the situation.

Kokkoro is Jakk’s best friend, a Japanese vampire. He was not seen in the pilot comic, but he will be a valuable friend to Jakk, always ready to help his buddy out of a jam. An umbrella will still be a key part of his character although it is not in this picture.

Jakk is the main character of the series. He is either a lot less disturbing or more disturbing to look at this time around, depending on what you thought of the previous look. He is neither alive nor dead, but instead walks the earth in an in-between state, unable to perish. To pass the time, he acts as a private eye for paranormal creatures. He has a large amount of powers, such as breathing fire and gaining six extra spider-like limbs.

The Librarian is a rather young ghost – only two hundred years old. Still, it is said she knows more information than any other being, living or dead, on the planet. Although she certainly knows quite a bit and is Jakk’s consistent go-to for information, her supposed omniscience cannot be proven.

Scythe is the newest creature to become death incarnate. After her mother retired, she became determined to find a way to allow Jakk’s soul to rest. Even with her and Jakk doing the best they can, she has been unsuccessful so far.

Valentine is the brother of the poltergeist Psycho. Heavily abused as a child, she eventually willingly became a siren, using her beautiful singing voice to save many children from abuse and “punish” the perpetrator. And by punishment, she means killing and occasionally eating them.

Psycho is the brother of the siren, Valentine. Unlike his sister, he has no interest in saving the abused. He was killed during a particularly abusive situation and became a ghost, a crazed poltergeist. He has no other intent than to terrify and kill his victims. Although he has many run-ins with her due to his psychopathic nature, he has no memory of who his sister is.

As you can see, they are far more stylized this time around. It’s honestly closer to what I originally wanted. I’ve decided to stick with the dark comedy route I originally planned, but it might not be as graphic as planned.

So stay tuned for Saturday! I have a new technique to translate from sketch to computer, so it should look awesome hopefully!

New Story Idea

A couple of college kids are having a late night fun drive when they all get attacked by a giant humanoid monster. They awake to find that they have changed into supernatural monsters called “night eaters”. It is neither vampire nor werewolf but is what both of the legends are based on. They return to their college to find that there are others, hiding out in the “werewolf and vampire lovers” club. They eventually join their pack and do their best to fit in.

But something, or someone, is killing off the night eaters at the college one by one.

DUN DUN DUUUN. Supernatural horror thriller mystery!!

NaNoWriMo Decisions!

I’m back from my Ontario trip! And, as it turns out, I need some help.

This isn’t uncommon for me, really. You’re going to find this out the more you follow me.

I’m trying to figure out what to do for National Novel Writing Month. For those who don’t know what that is, it’s a challenge sent out in November to write an entire novel in a month. A whole novel. That’s insane. But I’m going to do it, and I have five plans in store. Here’s the basic idea of each plan.

1. Once in a Blood Moon
When a group of friends finds themselves to have become supernatural monsters, they set off in search of a wolf pack to call home. The book will focus on the family aspect of these creatures of the moon that often goes unnoticed. I got the full plan from this Tumblr post, but I’ve had a similar idea in my mind since I was a young teen myself.

2. Destiny in Wonderland
After her mother, Alice, has been placed into a psychiatric ward for schizophrenia, her daughter Destiny begins to claim she’s gone to a place called Wonderland. The problem? She’s never even heard about her mother’s “hallucinations”. The story takes the POV of the family maid as she watches Destiny’s descent into madness… or is it?

3. Vampire University
This is the second of old ideas that I’m considering actually working with again. When his fiance becomes one of the living dead, the main character of this story faces off against the biggest and baddest of the undead underworld in hopes of finding a cure. Turns out, some of them are his classmates. The idea came to me about the same year as Once in a Blood Moon.

4. (Currently Untitled)
No, that’s not the name of it. I really don’t have a title for it, and it’s not like any of the ones I have planned before it. This book would follow the story of a teenage bisexual Christian who struggles to decide between following their faith or their sexuality during their first year at college. It will get into the nitty gritty of the life of an LGBT Christian. No holds barred. It’s going to require some intense studying on my part. I’m not sure about this one, as it may really hit home really hard for some readers, but that’s good right? Who knows.

5. Fullmetal Skies
Space pirates.
Need I say more?

So help me out, and hopefully I’ll get a solid decision before the summer ends! Maybe even an outline!
