Promo: Watch For This Name
So here’s the thing. I have a friend who writes. I’ve mentioned him before, but now I feel the need to do a super promo. He is technically on WordPress, but he hasn’t posted in months. So here’s the thing. I have a friend who writes. I’ve mentioned him before, but now I feel the need to do a super promo. He is technically on WordPress, but he hasn’t posted in months. But here’s some things about him.
His name is David Brennan. He didn’t start writing until a few months ago. The most experience he had with world-building beforehand was some roleplaying we did back in the day. But now he has decided to go big or go home, and is working on a novel. A NOVEL. Who on earth decides their first venture into writing must be a novel? Brennan, apparently.
Anyway, he in his very first adventure in writing, is one of the best people starting out that I have ever seen. He made a story that I seriously enjoyed reading just by the first chapter of the book. He still has some grammar issues to work out, but it can be overlooked. After all, he’s trying to be a storyteller, not a linguist. And, you know, it’s the first draft.
He is an excellent battle writer so far. This may be due to a lot of anime watching. He seems to write PTSD super well. I don’t know why this is really but I can’t say it’s a bad thing.
In conclusion, although he doesn’t have his own social network thing yet… watch for this name. And watch for the book “Blood Diamond”. That is its current title.
Gabriel out.
Check out this blog right here! She’s awesome at like, everything she does.
Rating: ★★★★/★★★★★
Date Completed: 5/12/15I enjoyed this book. It was a good sequel. The events of World After picks up right where Angelfall left off which means this book, like the first one is very fast paced and has a lot going on. However, even with this book being fast paced and action packed, I can’t help but feel like not much happened!
Penryn has finally got her family all gathered up but with a schizophrenic mom, a sister who looks like a spawn of Frankestein and the fact that the entire Resistance camp thinks Penyrn has risen from the dead, tensions are of course high and it doesn’t take long for something crazy to happen. Eventually they’re once again separated and Penryn is thrown on another roller coaster ride of a journey, trying to find her sister, saving as many people as she can in the process as well as trying to figure out what the Angels are up to.
There was never a time throughout this book where I felt bored or any parts that were slow going are hard for me to get through like the second half of the first book was. But I still can’t shake the feeling that the events of this book could have been included in the first one in half the pages. Especially considering that fact that the thing I loved MOST about the first book was all but absent in this book. And that is the interactions between Penryn and Raffe!
Raffe is no where to be found for 70% of the book. And while I love Penryn and I feel like she is an amazing character and I love her prose. I love Penryn and Raffe TOGETHER even more! I missed their banter, their quick wit, sly jokes and sarcastic comebacks. I missed the slow burn of their unrequited feelings for one another. I just LOVE THEM! I love that when they’re together they always look out for one another, and that even though Penryn is just a human, she can still hold her own and save Raffes life just as much as he saves hers. I WANTED MORE!
While on her journey, some new information about the Angels and their agenda is revealed, as well as some things regarding the humans who are still trying to survive and take back the planet. But I’m still very much confused and have no idea whats going on. But in a good way… I have to say, I don’t know how Susan Ee is going to wrap everything up in a single book. I’m going to read End of Days very soon but I just don’t see how she’s going to reveal what’s really going on with all the angels, humans and some of the hybrid creatures that have been created and then RESOLVE all of that without anything seeming like its been rushed or glossed over.
Even though I only REALLY enjoyed the last 15 chapters of this book, which isn’t a lot in a book with 75 chapters, this was still a really good sequel and I definitely cannot wait to see how Susan pulls everything together. I know there isn’t going to be any kind of happy ending or happily ever after, but hopefully there can be some kind of light at the end of all of these characters’ tunnels.

It hosts mainly photographs so far, but she is also quite talented in the area of painting and sketching. She’s just a very wonderfully talented person who’s trying to get a start on this wonderful web hoster that is WordPress.
Here’s some images of hers to get you an idea of how good she is.

Sadly, most of this is older stuff, but you can see her newer photos on her blog! She’s heavily into the surrealism scene, so it shows in her work all the time. Check her out and give her a follow if you like!
Applauding Fan Fiction
This blog is a bit revealing. I’ll admit something. When I first started out on WordPress and Tumblr, I didn’t have a very good view of fan fictions. This is strange looking back on it now, because I used to read Star Wars books all the time. Specifically, I read non-canon Star Wars books. And yes, for some reason, I decided that fan-fictions we’re of a lower grade than every other fiction. I am…

I am no idea why this was. I can guess it may have had something to do with the usage of other people’s characters. But that view has drastically changed.
As a matter of fact, I applaud fan fiction writers now. You guys are amazing. The ability to take another person’s character from long ago and put them into another story that was not made by the writer is mind blowing. It means you understood those characters and world so well that you can essentially become the writer of that book reincarnate. That is insane. I have no idea how you do that. I don’t even know if I could do that. Because basically, that means I have to get inside the head of the writer of the book. I have to know what they were thinking with that character, or at least have a general idea. The general idea is not as hard, but writing that character in all their complexity is. That’s the key to making a good fan fiction… you keep that character in character. That is hard. That is very hard, and I applaud you for it if you can do it.
In fact, I came to find out that CS Lewis, one of my favorite authors of all time, applauded fan fictions. He even challenged people to write Narnia fanfiction, Which I haven’t seen done yet. Maybe I’ll do it at some point, who knows. So here’s to you, fan-fic writers! You guys continue stories that we always wish were continued, and you do it amazingly.
As little shout out to a friend, there is a fan fiction writer on WordPress. His name is Ben Ditmars, and he recently did some Harry Potter fan fiction, But took in away most people have not. He’s also very talented poet who has actually published a book of his poetry, so you should all look him up.
