Newest Scene

Easily my favorite scene I have written for any of my stories:

Destiny awoke with a start. She had not had any nightmares that night. In fact, she could not think of what she had dreamed at all. She imagined that she hadn’t dreamed. It was very possible.

But what she was hearing now was just the strangest thing. She put her hear to the edge of the door to hear their voices. It was two very shrill voices arguing about seemingly nothing.

“What?” asked the first one.

“Oh, nothing,” replied the other.

“Nothing at all?”

“Some sort of nothing, I should say.”

“So something as well as nothing?”

“No, just nothing of something.”

She heard tea being sipped.

“I say…”

“Say what?”

“Yes.”

“What?”

The first voice groaned. “None of that.”

“None of what?”

“Yes.”

She heard a cup hit wood angrily. “We don’t have any of what? We really ought to.”

“I should say so.”

“But you haven’t?”

“I just did.”

“What?”

“Say so.”

“Not you!”

“Not me?”

“Of course not!”

She heard a chair move. “Fine then, I won’t!”

“Won’t what?”

“Say so!”

There was a long pause. “But you just did.”

“Did what?”

“Yes.”

“Oh, I’d forgotten.”

“As had I. What are we forgetting?” She heard tea being poured, and after a little while, it being sipped again.

“How should I know?”

“I don’t know.”

“Me neither.”

“No, you’re not neither.”

They sipped tea again. “Then what am I?”

“What.”

“I’m what?”

“Yes.”

“And you? What are you?”

“No, you are.”

“I know, but which are you?”

“I don’t really know.”

“Neither do I.”

“No, I don’t really know.”

“Oh, you don’t?”

“No, I don’t really know,” the second repeated again.

“Nor do I.”

“You don’t understand. More tea?”

“Certainly.” She heard tea being poured another time.

To become a writing buddy for NaNoWrimo, check me out here!

For those who don’t know, I am writing a NaNoWriMo book based in the Alice in Wonderland series. It is a lot of fun to write, because I get to be a little bit of a madman for the month. The book Destiny in Wonderland chronicles the adventures that happen after Alice is gone.

But after some writing, I have finally gotten to mentioning a very important character’s return.

That’s right.

The Queen of Hearts is back in town.

Destiny’s Wonderland: Sneak Peek

November 6, 1892

Day One

Destiny only appears to be getting worse.

So that I may have some background when I read this later, she has already come to believe in this other world. That started happening only the day before yesterday. I am unsure how to treat her, whether to let her roam free with this idea or to dispel it from her mind.

Still, she is so determined.
I am praying that this is a passing phase. I believe that, perhaps, she is just very involved in her imaginary worlds. I hope most of all that she actually realizes that they are imaginary. She is a very clever child, like her mother, and I do believe that this could easily be the case.

However, based on what we have seen so far, including her running into a mirror to chase after some grinning cat, I fear that it is something far more sinister. I fear she is becoming mad, just as her dear mother has.

I cannot imagine that they would actually put her in a madhouse as they did her mother. She is, after all, only ten years of age! All the adults in that place would eat her alive. That would be most dreadful, and I hope that the doctor avoids this possibility for as long as possible.

Anyhow, regarding symptoms: she has, as said before, run into the mirror at an object that was not there. That was the first and only time she has done something this drastic. But she has not gotten, per se, better. Whenever I have tried to suggest that her other world, “Wonderland”, is false, she goes into a hysterical fit, from which she cannot be calmed for some time.

I am a good maid.

I am sure of it.

But this child will most assuredly be the death of me.

NaNoWriMo Novel!

I am very excited to announce that I will be doing an Alice in Wonderland fanfiction for National Novel Writing Month. A novel-length fanfiction? Dang right.

Destiny’s Wonderland will be placed after the events of both of the books and into Alice’s adult life. Alice has since been sent to a psych ward, but Destiny, her daughter, soon claims that she herself has gone to Wonderland. The problem? She was never told about it beforehand. Taken from the point of view of both the maid and Destiny herself, Destiny’s Wonderland chronicles Destiny’s trip into madness… or is it?

NaNoWriMo Decisions!

I’m back from my Ontario trip! And, as it turns out, I need some help. This isn’t uncommon for me, really. You’re going to find this out the more you follow me. NaNoWriMo Decisions!

I’m back from my Ontario trip! And, as it turns out, I need some help.

This isn’t uncommon for me, really. You’re going to find this out the more you follow me.

I’m trying to figure out what to do for National Novel Writing Month. For those who don’t know what that is, it’s a challenge sent out in November to write an entire novel in a month. A whole novel. That’s insane. But I’m going to do it, and I have five plans in store. Here’s the basic idea of each plan.

1. Once in a Blood Moon
When a group of friends finds themselves to have become supernatural monsters, they set off in search of a wolf pack to call home. The book will focus on the family aspect of these creatures of the moon that often goes unnoticed. I got the full plan from this Tumblr post, but I’ve had a similar idea in my mind since I was a young teen myself.

2. Destiny in Wonderland
After her mother, Alice, has been placed into a psychiatric ward for schizophrenia, her daughter Destiny begins to claim she’s gone to a place called Wonderland. The problem? She’s never even heard about her mother’s “hallucinations”. The story takes the POV of the family maid as she watches Destiny’s descent into madness… or is it?

3. Vampire University
This is the second of old ideas that I’m considering actually working with again. When his fiance becomes one of the living dead, the main character of this story faces off against the biggest and baddest of the undead underworld in hopes of finding a cure. Turns out, some of them are his classmates. The idea came to me about the same year as Once in a Blood Moon.

4. (Currently Untitled)
No, that’s not the name of it. I really don’t have a title for it, and it’s not like any of the ones I have planned before it. This book would follow the story of a teenage bisexual Christian who struggles to decide between following their faith or their sexuality during their first year at college. It will get into the nitty gritty of the life of an LGBT Christian. No holds barred. It’s going to require some intense studying on my part. I’m not sure about this one, as it may really hit home really hard for some readers, but that’s good right? Who knows.

5. Fullmetal Skies
Space pirates.
Need I say more?

So help me out, and hopefully I’ll get a solid decision before the summer ends! Maybe even an outline!

Madder With Three: A Sequel

I said I would make a sequel to Madness, so I did! I’m not sure what I think of it, though, but neither do they, so it all balances out.

[Enter one thing and the other. A third joins them.]

One thing:      Welcome, third!

The other:      Third, very welcome!

A third:           Indeed, third welcome.

One thing:      But you were already welcomed.

The other:      Twice welcomed, you were.

A third:           But I welcome myself as well, you see. Safety first.

One thing:      A most excellent point.

The other:      But we haven’t.

A third:           We really ought to at some point.

One thing:     That’s the idea.

The other:      But when?

One thing:      Yes?

A third:           Precisely.

The other:      No, not me, just some.

A third:           So, some other point, then?

One thing:      No, at some point.

The other:      But when should we?

One thing:      I most say so.

A third:           But not all, really.

One thing:      No. That would be silly!

A third:           We wouldn’t have time.

The other:      Time for what?

A third:           Not yet, but soon.

One thing:     Well, you mustn’t be late.

The other:     It’s an important date.

A third:          A what?

The other:     Quite.

A third:          I hadn’t thought of that.

One thing:     Nor had I.

The other:     Had you what?

One thing:     I’m not really sure.

A third:          Sure of what?

One thing:     Nope.

A third:          Distressing, I’d say.

The other:     But you just did.

A third:          Did what?

One thing:     No, you did.

The other:     Whatever did he do?

A third:          I’m not sure.

One thing:     Who is?

The other:     No, she isn’t.

A third:          Really?

One thing:     Shocking!

The other:     What is?

One thing:     I’d rather you not.

A third:          It would be painful.

The other:     Agreed. More tea?

A third:         Certainly.

One thing:    Certainly.
