I’m back from my Ontario trip! And, as it turns out, I need some help.
This isn’t uncommon for me, really. You’re going to find this out the more you follow me.
I’m trying to figure out what to do for National Novel Writing Month. For those who don’t know what that is, it’s a challenge sent out in November to write an entire novel in a month. A whole novel. That’s insane. But I’m going to do it, and I have five plans in store. Here’s the basic idea of each plan.
1. Once in a Blood Moon
When a group of friends finds themselves to have become supernatural monsters, they set off in search of a wolf pack to call home. The book will focus on the family aspect of these creatures of the moon that often goes unnoticed. I got the full plan from this Tumblr post, but I’ve had a similar idea in my mind since I was a young teen myself.
2. Destiny in Wonderland
After her mother, Alice, has been placed into a psychiatric ward for schizophrenia, her daughter Destiny begins to claim she’s gone to a place called Wonderland. The problem? She’s never even heard about her mother’s “hallucinations”. The story takes the POV of the family maid as she watches Destiny’s descent into madness… or is it?
3. Vampire University
This is the second of old ideas that I’m considering actually working with again. When his fiance becomes one of the living dead, the main character of this story faces off against the biggest and baddest of the undead underworld in hopes of finding a cure. Turns out, some of them are his classmates. The idea came to me about the same year as Once in a Blood Moon.
4. (Currently Untitled)
No, that’s not the name of it. I really don’t have a title for it, and it’s not like any of the ones I have planned before it. This book would follow the story of a teenage bisexual Christian who struggles to decide between following their faith or their sexuality during their first year at college. It will get into the nitty gritty of the life of an LGBT Christian. No holds barred. It’s going to require some intense studying on my part. I’m not sure about this one, as it may really hit home really hard for some readers, but that’s good right? Who knows.
5. Fullmetal Skies
Space pirates.
Need I say more?
So help me out, and hopefully I’ll get a solid decision before the summer ends! Maybe even an outline!
